Shrine, Tennessee

The Shrine to the Helicopter Pilot on Lewis Chapel Mountain has some incredible features.  Unfortunately, I’ve mostly documented the weird and disturbing (although I REALLY want this ceiling fan).

These war ship woodworks (above, below) are finely finished but there are also some lovely wildlife carvings.

There is also a shrine to someone’s service in Viet Nam, and

attendance in the first gulf war:

The guy is one of my favourite people that I know personally, so it is kind of cool to take over his mountain digs for a week.
